What do you get when you combine a young coder/web developer/engineer/designer and a serial entrepreneur? A father-son dream team that can do just about anything. We're not professional fishermen -- we're the guys who used to go out fishing and sometimes come back empty handed. We're always looking for better ways to do things, and that's how we came up with the TactiBite Fish Call over three years ago. We knew there had to be a way that we could use the latest technology to help ourselves catch more fish, and when nothing existed on the market we decided to create it ourselves! It's truly changed the way we fish, and of course how much we catch!.
Jack Danos is now 19. He works full time on the business, and has taught himself literally everything necessary to start and run this company. In the early stages of developing the product, we needed to turn our idea into a real and usable product, so he taught himself CAD and 3D-Printing in order to design and 3D-print all of the prototypes. Next came a Kickstarter campaign that he successfully orchestrated to reach its $10,000 goal in only 2 hours, which would go on to raise over 1000% of that goal after a successful PR outreach campaign.
After the successful Kickstarter campaign, we needed a great website, and the fact that Jack has been building websites since age 12 certainly helped when he designed and hand-coded our website.
But how do you get people to go from knowing nothing about your product, or why they'd want it, to actually buying it? That's not an easy question to answer. Great branding, packaging, videos, and a simple but effective presentation are all necessary but even with all of that there's still the issue of no one knowing about your product. In addition to all of the above, Jack taught himself how to build and manage successful and profitable marketing and social media campaigns and figured out how to sell our product online. His marketing acumen has been a huge asset to the company, as he has very quickly figured out how to leverage web and social media venues to drive product sales.
Jack has also become very well versed in patent and trademark law throughout this process, and currently has two patents and one trademark to his name, with more pending and in the works.
So, to sum it all up, Jack has basically done anything and everything you've seen related to our product and brand, and has taught himself how to do it all! Oh, and did we mention that all of this led up to pitching, making a deal, and airing on ABC's Shark Tank?
